Spreading Kindness

This year I wanted to do something special; to me, this meant giving back in an act of service that would put a smile on someone’s face. After my very first event, I remember taking all the flowers home and thinking to myself. “Man, I don’t want these to go to waste.” That night, I broke them all down and separated the flowers into little bundles. I live for inspirational quotes so I wrote little notes to tuck into each ribbon.

The next day at sunset, I handed the flowers out to people walking down the beach. Everyone shared the same surprised but big goofy smile on their face. 

For me, it started as a way to eliminate waste and bring a little joy to a stranger.

To celebrate my birthday, I thought bringing this idea back and getting all my girlfriends involved would be a fun activity for us to bond over. But, it still felt like it wasn't enough.  Then I heard a podcast with Jimmy Darts as the guest speaker the other morning. For those of you who haven’t heard of Jimmy - he is a youtube sensation for all the right reasons. He is changing people’s lives on individual biases who pass a test graded on “Kindness." 

He has donated thousands of dollars through donations and his personal money. He has been featured on the Today Show, Simon Sinek's A Bit of Optimism, the Kelly Clarkson Show, and other popular talk shows. He now travels across the country doing these Kindness Challenges and every dollar raised keeps the dream alive. 

I am merging my passion for flowers and random acts of kindness to benefit Jimmy's mission. If you would like to donate a flower bundle, the minimum is $5 and you will be able to send in your favorite inspirational quote you want me to write.
